Founded in 1866, University Hospitals has grown over the last 150 years to become what it is today – one of the nation’s leading health care systems, committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered medical care to the residents of Northeast Ohio. UH offers the region’s largest network of primary care physicians, outpatient centers and hospitals. Our facilities include a thriving academic medical center, 18 hospitals, 40 health centers and dozens of medical practices throughout a 15-county region. More than 26,000 physicians and employees constitute University Hospitals and its partnership hospitals, ranking it Northeast Ohio’s second largest private sector employer.
The system’s 1032-bed tertiary medical center, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, focuses on adult and pediatric medical and surgical specialties and is consistently ranked among the nation’s top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Our main campus at UH Cleveland Medical Center also includes UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, ranked among the top children’s hospitals in the nation; UH MacDonald Women's Hospital, Ohio's only hospital for women; and UH Seidman Cancer Center, part of the National Cancer Institute-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University.
University Hospitals partnered with MDLIVE to expand access to quality, convenient health care. While not meant to replace the primary care physician-patient relationship, this service provides a new option for minor health care issues. Using the latest Internet and mobile device technologies, consumers and physicians are able to engage in real time, interactive consultations whenever and wherever they are. Doctors and nurse practitioners, both in and outside UH, are available at all hours to diagnose, recommend treatment, and prescribe medication, if needed.
The UH Virtual Visit and MDLIVE provider network is comprised of UH doctors and nurse practitioners and doctors contracted by MDLIVE. All doctors are board certified in family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or pediatrics.
All providers are state-licensed to practice in your state, board certified, and credentialed using NCQA and URAC guidelines and URAC guidelines. MDLIVE completes background checks with primary source verification through the National Physician Data Base (NPDB) and the American Medical Association (AMA) for medical licensure, training and education, and work and malpractice history.
All encounters are digitally archived with the highest level of security and only accessible by the patient and provider.
All providers complete telehealth training to talk with and diagnose patients over the phone and online video, while adhering to strict clinical protocols:
